Pewter Spoon Workshop

Workshop Leader: Ella McIntosh

Friday 17th January, 1pm - 5:30pm

Ella McIntosh pewter spoons - previous workshop examples

Join Ella for a full day of metal bashing & skill learning to handcraft your own pewter spoon using traditional metalwork skills.

We will cover a whole variety of traditional pewtersmithing skills to create your own unique spoon design. Ella will guide you through each process with demonstrations as you learn how to hammer a flat sheet of metal into a spoon bowl. We will then use molten pewter to cast ingots for the handles before personalising your spoon using a variety of letter stamping, shaping and hammering before polishing for you to take home. A handmade spoon for lots of yummy treats!

All materials are provided including tea, coffee and biscuits as well as aprons and design inspiration however if you have any doodles or pictures of ideas you’d like to make please do bring them along.

We will be using tools and molten metal so please wear closed toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, though aprons are provided.

Suitable for beginners or those with previous silver or jewellery experience.

1pm – 5:30pm (half an hour lunch break. We have a cafe on site or please feel free to bring a packed lunch).
