Manchester Bee Jewellery Workshop
Workshop Leader: Ella McIntosh
Friday 14th February, 2.30pm - 5.30pm
Celebrate Manchester by creating your own pewter worker bee keyring/pendant/ brooch using the traditional skill of cuttlefish casting.
Handcraft your unique Manchester bee, the emblem of Manchester of which there are 7 on the city crest, and experience the age old metal technique of cuttlefish casting.
Through the workshop Ella will guide you through the process of carving your design from the unusual material cuttlefish bone before we pour the molten pewter (lead free metal) to reveal your design.
We will then finish your cast using traditional jewellery tools and techniques before polishing your pendant, keyring or brooch so you can proudly take your final piece home. A fascinating technique with beautiful results.
Suitable for beginners or those with previous silver or jewellery experience.
