Currently residing in the small exhibition space beneath the impressive glass roof of Manchester Craft & Design Centre’s iconic Victorian building, SEED is facing homelessness.
Like a budding flower straining up towards the light, surrounded by the eclectic wares of the city’s artist-makers, SEED looks right at home in the small exhibition space at Manchester Craft & Design Centre (MCDC). But when its residency comes to an end on May 9, SEED will be looking for a new abode.
SEED was the winning entry in a competition organised by MCDC in collaboration with RIBA North West, the professional body for architects in the region, to fill the exhibition space at MCDC with a temporary, structural installation.
Designed by Manchester School of Architecture student James Donegan, and constructed using digital production methods at FabLab Manchester, SEED moved into MCDC in February and has been making itself at home ever since.
SEED loves Manchester but would consider relocating. It would be happiest indoors but could live outside with regular treatments. At 402cm high and 363cm at its widest point, you’ll need quite a big spare room.
