Manchester Craft & Design Centre has successfully bid for funding as part of Arts Council England’s prestigious National Portfolio (2015-18).
Sue Fletcher, MCDC Chair says; “This, clearly, is good news for Manchester Craft and Design Centre, at a time when there is a great deal of competition for resources. We’re delighted but we’re aware of other organisations that haven’t been so fortunate. We will continue to work in partnership with organizations to build an ever-stronger foundation for craft and design in the region. This funding will enable us to continue our ambitious events and exhibitions programme, reaching out to new audiences and growing new talent in craft and design.”
We are proud to be home to 30 resident artists who design and make a variety of handmade products available direct from the makers in their studios. Our dynamic exhibition programme showcases work by both emerging and established international makers, and we work actively to support new craft and design talent to flourish in the region and beyond.
Manchester Craft & Design Centre recently won Manchester Tourism Award for best Independent Tourism Retailer of the Year for 2013, and welcomes c. 90,000 visitors per year.
