Manchester Pride #MakePride

Manchester Craft and Design Centre has been a welcoming place for LGBTQ+ visitors and makers since 1982 and this Manchester Pride we’re excited to be joining in with the city-wide celebrations.

Our talented Designer/Makers create handmade work across a wide range of materials, from jewellery to ceramics, illustration to wedding dresses and more. Our jewellery makers are always really popular with same-sex couples looking for rings, as is our resident dressmaker Laura Fray for wedding dresses. If you’re visiting Manchester for the Pride party and parade then we’ve a great selection work in rainbows designs; from rainbow bees for your window from Ink Inc. to recently produced one-off work from artist Laura Richardson in Studio 1, as well as vibrant and intricately produced glassware from Helen Tiffany.

In Studio 1 you’ll also find Charlotte Verity’s intricate jewellery; whose pieces combine precious metals, silver and gold, handmade glass components and colourful faceted stones – a great addition to any Pride outfit.

We’re open 10am to 5.30pm this Saturday for a relaxed and inspiring bit of shopping, and with nice weather forecast we’re the perfect spot to escape the crowds and chill with cake and a coffee at Oak St Cafe. Our Resident Makers have created intricate and unique window displays for Pride, showing off their skills and inspiring visitors. Check out Claire Hillerby’s handmade rainbow bunting made from vintage stamps, as well as a colourful display of handmade paper flowers from the wonderful Kaper by Kate Kelly – just some of the ways the original home of the creative Northern Quarter (that’s us by the way) is here to #MakePride even brighter and more creative than ever!

Happy Pride!
