As we head into degree show season, the team here at MCDC are gearing up to visit the local shows around the Greater Manchester area. We’re on the hunt for emerging talent from some of the best arts courses in the UK. This week, we’re visiting:
Manchester Metropolitan University – Manchester School of Art Degree Show
(from the 10 -21 June):
The University of Bolton Creative Degree Show
(which runs from 9 June – 22 June):
This time of year is always a highlight for the MCAD team, as we get to see the most innovative and highly skilled creations from graduating students before they are unleashed to a national & international audience.
During these show visits, we highlight some of our favourites through our ‘Spotted’ scheme, where we hand-pick makers who we think are the “ones to watch” in the world of contemporary craft and design. We then support, promote and publicise these talented graduates here on our website for all to see and celebrate.
One very special ‘Spotted’ candidate from Manchester Metropolitan University, whose work we feel is of considerable mention, is also awarded the ‘Annual MMU Graduate Solo Exhibition Award’. They are then given the chance to exhibit their work here at MCDC plus receive on-going support and guidance from our team of experts.
And two candidates from The University of Bolton are awarded a four day pop-up showcase here at MCDC, alongside mentoring from the team.
