At Manchester Craft & Design Centre we’re passionate about supporting new graduates and bridging the gap between graduation and professional practice. Part of this work includes awarding a pop-up showcase to two Textiles & Surface Design graduates from The University of Bolton.
The standard of work on show at Bolton this year was so high that we decided to select three winners!
Congratulations to Luke Mason, Abbie McAndrews and Cheyenne Slater, who will be showcasing their work here at MCDC between Thursday 8th and Sunday 11th September 2016.
The winners will also receive installation support from the MCDC team, digital promotion through our website and social media, and a discounted place at an MCDC Creative Business Development workshop.
Luke Mason
We were drawn to Luke’s architecture inspired designs and his enthusiasm for the opportunity.
His collection of home interior fabrics, wall coverings and stationery products have been inspired by a large body of visual imagery captured on a trip to Italy.
Abbie McAndrews
We were impressed with Abbie’s range of work and styles, and found her first wallpaper collection to be particularly strong.
Abbie’s work aims to capture and preserve the textures and shapes found in nature, before global warming and human impact cause them to change or disappear forever.
Cheyenne Slater
Cheyenne’s combination of beautiful floral designs and geometric shapes really stood out for us.
Her work is inspired by her passion for origami; simple linear folds and repetitive parallel lines create the minimalist architectures which are portrayed in her designs.
